Mahoney Photography formerly Northwest Image is locally owned and operated in Anacortes, Washington. Owner and photographer Ryan Mahoney, started Mahoney Photography in 2005. His passion and dedication for photography resulted in its creation.
His interest in photography started at a young age. Over the past few years he has been pursuing it professionally. Born and raised in Anacortes Ryan's inspiration comes from the surroundings of his hometown.
Northwest Image was featured in the March 9th 2006 edition of the Anacortes American.

Northwest Image offers printing, photography services

Photography runs in the Mahoney family.
The late Paul Mahoney captured life around Anacortes, photographing graduation, basketball and weddings.
His grandson Ryan Mahoney has followed in his grandfather’s footsteps, opening Northwest Image earlier this year. He offers prints of images from around Anacortes and photography services for companies and events.
“I like capturing the moment, capturing the image,” Mahoney said. He enjoys seeing a sunset that nobody else can, but then being able to share the photo.
After “trying to do the corporate thing” in Redmond, Mahoney moved back to his hometown of Anacortes. When he returned he wanted to capture moments and make Anacortes stand out.
“I was inspired to take photos,” he said. “I’d come home from work and grab the camera.”
His Web site started out as an image gallery for the photos he took only as a hobby.
After one was used for an ABC Yacht Charters ad campaign, he started getting offered other jobs and his Web site was expanded. He has since photographed weddings and done some commercial photography.
Mahoney also offers digital photo printing and can scan negatives and do digital restoration. He said it costs more but there is also more care for the quality and color of prints, a difference people can see.
Mahoney got the idea to start his Web business from his brother, Kyle.
“He was my inspiration to start my own business,” Mahoney said.

The brothers are looking for a storefront location.
Mahoney’s ultimate goal is to be able to work part time and do photography part time, covering events in Skagit and Whatcom counties.
“Most people can’t do what they love full time but I’d like to,” he said.
